Mesotherapy delivers small volumes of a compounded preparation into the middle layer of the skin using very fine needles. The contents of the preparation are determined at the consultation and vary from person to person. The method may be used on the face, neck, back of the hands and the scalp.

How it is carried out
The procedure is carried out at the practice by the physician, with single-use materials. It does not begin before informed consent is taken.
- The area is cleaned and a topical anaesthetic cream applied if needed
- The preparation is delivered beneath the skin in small volumes with fine needles
- A cold compress is applied to the area at the end
- Aftercare instructions are given in writing
What to expect afterwards
Redness, mild swelling and small bruises may appear in the treated area and usually settle in a short time. Outcomes vary from person to person and the number of sessions is determined after the consultation.
Before the procedure
Blood-thinning medicines, known allergies and pregnancy must be reported to the physician beforehand. You will be asked not to wear make-up on the area on the day.

Does it hurt?
Very fine needles are used and a topical anaesthetic cream is applied where needed. Discomfort varies from person to person; if you feel uncomfortable during the procedure, it is paused.
How many sessions are needed?
The number of sessions is determined after the consultation. Giving a number in advance would not be right; a plan is made after the assessment and reviewed as it goes.
Can I go back to work the same day?
Most people return to everyday life the same day. Because redness and mild swelling may appear, you will be asked not to wear make-up that day.
What should I do before the procedure?
Bring a list of the medicines you take regularly. Tell the practice when booking if you use blood thinners, have a known allergy, or may be pregnant.
Who is it not suitable for?
