Skin and hair analysis

The skin and scalp are imaged and assessed with a dedicated device. Together with the consultation, it helps decide which procedure is suitable.

What the analysis looks at

  • Moisture and oil balance
  • Pore structure
  • Pigmentation, sun damage and uneven tone
  • Wrinkles and elasticity
  • Acne and redness
  • Hair density and shaft thickness
  • Scalp condition and pattern of hair loss

What skin and hair analysis is

In skin analysis, the face is imaged at high resolution under different lighting; findings not visible to the naked eye, such as pigmentation, pores and redness, are measured. In hair analysis, the scalp and hair shafts are examined under magnification. The results are assessed together with the examination and stored for follow-up.

Who it is suitable for

Suitability is determined at the consultation, which takes account of general health, current medicines and any chronic conditions.

The conditions listed at the top of the page are assessed at the consultation. A condition appearing in the list does not mean the procedure will be carried out for it, or that a result will follow; the decision is made after the consultation.

How it is carried out

The analysis is carried out at the practice by the physician. It is non-invasive; no needles or medicines are used.

  • The skin or scalp is cleaned
  • Images are taken with the device
  • The findings are reviewed with the physician
  • Suitable procedures and care advice are planned

What to expect afterwards

There is no recovery period after the analysis; everyday life can be resumed the same day. The images are kept for comparison at later check-ups.

Outcomes vary from person to person and the number of sessions is determined after the consultation.

Before the procedure

Regular medicines, known allergies, chronic conditions and pregnancy must be reported to the physician beforehand.

Good to know

The analysis is non-invasive. Please note the points below so the results are accurate.

  • The analysis alone does not make a diagnosis; findings are assessed together with the examination
  • Please do not wear make-up or cream on the day of the analysis
  • Please do not apply oil, spray or styling products to the scalp before a hair analysis
